Celebrating the Life of Vicki Jauhara Dorothy Greenhalge Care
Vicki Jauhara Dorothy Greenhalge Care, known to most throughout her life simply as Jauhara, was born on January 25, 1948. She passed away peacefully at her home in Cottonwood, Arizona, on June 16, 2026, at 12:54 PM. She was wrapped in the love of her devoted partner of over 45 years, Mary, and her beloved stepchild, Adia, who were both by her side.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, Jauhara lived a life defined by creativity, deep spiritual devotion, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a more just and compassionate place.
A Life of Art, Learning, and Quiet Wit
Jauhara was a woman of many gifts and great depth. As an extremely talented artist, she captured the beauty of the world around her, and as a life-long educator and student, she never stopped seeking knowledge or sharing it with others. While she carried herself with purpose, those who knew her well will fondly remember her distinct sense of humor—she had a wonderful zest for silly jokes and a dry wit that could unexpectedly light up a room.
A Voice for the Vulnerable
Jauhara was a fierce human rights activist and a dedicated animal activist and lover. She dedicated much of her life’s energy to defending the vulnerable, speaking up for justice, and caring deeply for the creatures of the earth.
A Spiritual Guide
As a Kalifa in the Sufi order, Jauhara walked a path of profound love, wisdom, and mysticism. Throughout her lifetime, she served as a spiritual guide, beautifully mentoring and illuminating the path of Sufism for countless students who will carry her teachings forward.
Her Legacy
Jauhara’s love lives on in the hearts of those she left behind. She is survived by:
Her loving partner of over 45 years, Mary
Her cherished stepchild, Adia
Her 5 brothers and 2 sisters
A multitude of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who became family.
