Sandra A England

Sandra Ann England (Sandy), 87, of Camp Verde, AZ passed away peacefully on June3rd , 2025, with loved ones at her bedside. Sandy was born on May 31, 1938, in Florence, AZ to Iva (Polly) and Ernest Rowe. 

A loving person who has held a caring role in so many lives, Sandy had a gift for making everyone feel special. She married Joel England in 1991 and together, they built a beautiful, loving home. Sandy was a kindergarten teacher for many years, beginning in the 1960s, and continuing into the late 1990s, mostly in Cottonwood, and quite a few of her prior students’ children were also in Sandy’s classroom. She also taught in Alaska, when she joined her husband for an adventure in Bethel, one season, while he worked there. 

She was chosen as “Woman of the Year” by her philanthropic organization at age 30. She was awarded “Teacher of the Year” at age 49, in Cottonwood. She enjoyed art and photography, reading, watching PBS, family history, animals, baking and decorating desserts, hiking & walking, and sending cards and packages to everyone in her life, especially kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, whether related or not. She gave such joy to so many.

She was a longtime, highly active member of the Girl Scouts, and attended ASU, where she was a member of Chi Omega. She is survived by her husband, Joel England, children, James Shepard, and Kristi Ingro (husband John), grandson, Jack Ingro, and so many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Iva (Polly) and Ernest Rowe, and her brothers, Jimmy and Larry Rowe. Sandy lost three children prior to and at delivery and we know she is enjoying them at last. 

Celebrations will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maggies Hospice, in memory of Sandra England. Sandy will be so very missed by those who knew and loved her.
