It is with hopeful sorrow that the family shares news that Robert Lee Harshman, 81 of Rimrock, Arizona went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of February 7th, 2024. Bobby was born on May 23rd, 1942, in Prescott, Arizona to Earl and Sybil Harshman and spent most of his life living in Arizona.
Bill graduated from Phoenix Union High School where he ran cross country. After high school graduation, he attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO and received a License to Preach the Gospel with the Assemblies of God. He married his high school sweetheart Bertha Lee Horton in 1961. They were married for 58 years and had four sons.
Sergent Bob Harshman served as a sworn officer in Arizona law enforcement for 20 years, retiring from the Department of Public Safety in 1986. He continued to serve the law enforcement community as a polygraph examiner in private practice for several years after his retirement. He also received bachelor’s degrees from both ASU and NAU.
In January of 1985, Bill and Bertha Harshman began pastoring Guadalupe Assembly of God and remained in faithful service in that community for the next 34 years, officially retiring from ministry in January of 2019.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Syble Harshman, his wife Bertha, his sister Doris and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Harshman. He is survived by his Aunt Ginger, his brother Mike and his wife Sandy and in-laws Dorthy and Gene Jeffery and Lu Horton, his son’s and their wives, Robert & Cheryl, Jeffery & Teresa, Stephen, and Marshall & Tina, along with 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, March 9th at 12 pm at Romans 12 Church of the East Valley, located at 9350 E. Brown Road, Mesa, AZ 85207. Lunch will be provided for all in attendance.
