Mina (Welch) Stanton, 97, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. She was born June 16, 1928, in Salem, Oregon, to Fred and Lois Stolk.
Mina earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and later her Master's degree in Education in Oregon. She married her college sweetheart, Lee Welch, and together they raised four children in Silverdale, Washington. Mina taught for 16 years in the Central Kitsap School District and was an active member of Silverdale Baptist Church.
After moving to Sedona, Arizona, Mina continued teaching at Verde Valley Christian School and Sedona Christian School, touching many lives through her love of education. Following Lee's passing, she traveled abroad to teach in China and Germany. She later married Russell Stanton, and they enjoyed many happy years together.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lee Welch and Russell Stanton; her daughter, Kathy Wing; and her son, Timothy Welch. She is survived by her son, Stanley Welch (Becky); daughter, Marianne Justus (Rob); four stepsons and their families; nine grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
