Lois Marlene Struthers-Tinnell passed away on April 29, 2024 in Cottonwood. She was born May 1, 1942 to Allen and Margaret Struthers in Nevada, Iowa and grew up on a farm near Collins, Iowa. She graduated from Ellsworth Community College where she was a singer in musicals then spent over twenty years working as assistant manager of big department stores plus having her own business. She returned to college and received her Master’s Degree from Iowa State University and worked at Living History Farms near Des Moines then was a State of Iowa Adoption Specialist. After moving to Kansas she worked as the Johnson County Park Bureau coordinator and at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop Historic Site in Olathe, KS. After moving to Arizona she worked as manager of the Del Webb Clubhouse at Cottonwood Ranch.
A Christian with many talents, she loved to sew and made costumes for historic reenactors as well as for herself at the historic sites and after moving to Arizona she made lap quilts for the VA, Blankets-4-Kids, and cancer patients. She enjoyed acting in historic skits as well as being a movie extra.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2022. She is survived by her son Ward Norem of Phoenix; stepdaughter Stephanie (Jon) Greener of Kansas and stepsons Ryan and Josh Tinnell of Wyoming and their children and grandchildren and brothers Donald (Sharon) Struthers and Charles (Kay) Struthers of Iowa and their families.
Celebration of Life will be held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
Inurnment will be at the Evansville, WY Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
