Lois Frances (Cook) Duvall passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at the age of 82, following a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving children. Frances was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, and a pillar of faith to her family.
She was born on August 26, 1943, to Fred and Florence Cook in Sedona, Arizona. Frances grew up alongside her three sisters and four brothers. She attended Buckeye Elementary and Buckeye Union High School. In 1960, she married Bill Duvall, and together they raised six children. Though the family moved frequently, Frances had a special gift for making every house feel like a warm and welcoming home.
While living in Buckeye, Arizona, Frances worked at Mildred's Restaurant, where she became well known for her delicious homemade pies, an art she learned from her mother. Later, in Sacramento, California, she worked at a family-owned florist, creating beautiful floral arrangements that brought joy to many. After she and Bill divorced in 1988, while living in Waterford, California, Frances remained there, working at Foster Farms while continuing to raise her younger children. She took great pride in her summer gardens and cherished time spent with family and friends.
In 1991, Frances returned to Cottonwood, Arizona, to care for her mother. She began working at Bashas' grocery store as a bakery assistant, where she delighted the community with warm donuts, pastries, and beautifully decorated cakes.
Frances was a member of Cottonwood Assembly of God, where her love for Jesus Christ grew deeply. She was passionate about sharing her faith with others, and even in her final days, her faith shone brightly to those caring for her. She was also a vibrant member of the church's senior adult group, where she enjoyed many potlucks and times of fellowship.
At home, Frances could often be found reading her Bible, listening to a Jimmy Swaggart sermon or song, and working on word searches. She loved staying connected with her family and especially treasured conversations with her children and grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Florence Cook; her sisters, Betty Jo Rorabaugh, Barbara Cook, and Joyce Rose; her brothers, Jack Cook, Jim Cook, and George Cook; and her daughter, Billie Iacona.
She is survived by her brother, Jay Cook; her son, Bill Duvall (Heather); her daughters, LaVaun Lambert (Jeff), Janet Minnie (Billy), Jaylynn Blagg (Arnold), and Marla Zale (Scott); as well as sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Canyon Trails Cowboy Church Assemblies of God, 3132 White Bear Rd., Sedona, Arizona.
