Clarkdale

Joseph Stephen Bachani, age 72, of Clarkdale, Arizona unexpectedly passed away May 8, 2025.

Joseph was born August 18, 1952, to Joseph and Josephine Bachani in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Joe attended Bishop Mccort High school and graduated in 1970. He went on to obtain his associate's degree in specialized electronic and computer technology in 1972. He was an electrician and worked at Bethlehem Steel at Burns Harbor Indiana. He happily retired after 47 years of service in 2019.

Shortly after he obtained his degree in 1972 he moved to Michigan City, Indiana. Joe went on to meet his beloved wife, Peggy Parsley in 1977. They were married September 21, 1979. They spent 46 years together and had two cherished daughters, Alexandrea and Melissa.

Joseph was a devoted Catholic, completed all of the Sacraments, and often found serenity at church throughout his life.

Joseph retired in 2019 and afterwards followed his dreams and moved to Arizona where he regularly enjoyed many trips and adventures at the state and national park system including Sedona Red Rock State Park, Zion, Colorado river, Grand Canyon, Arches, Smoky Mountains and Canyonlands. He enjoyed hiking, biking, camping, and rafting. His most memorable hikes which are both classified as “once in a lifetime” were Angels landing at Zion National Park and Phantom Ranch Hike at the Grand Canyon National Park. He was very passionate about all these experiences and loved to speak to his family and friends unlimitedly about them. He instilled the love for these adventures in his daughters as well.

Joseph enjoyed photography and often was found taking pictures and videos of his adventures, the scenery, as well as all of his family's important moments throughout their lives. Joseph in his spare time loved watching and going to sports games, mostly everything Pittsburgh including the Steelers, Pirates, and the Penguins as well as Penn State.

Joseph held many titles in his life but his most cherished role was being a father. He was always there for them, whether it was helping prepare for school, cheering them on at sports competitions, taking us to our many endeavors, or just spending time throughout their lifetime into adulthood. Joseph’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Joseph is survived and greatly missed by his loving wife Peggy and his two daughters  Alexandrea (Steve) Burnett of New Carlisle, Indiana and Melissa (Chris) Oberg of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother Robert (MaryAlice) Bachani; one sister, Karen (Jim) Martin; and many cousins, niece, nephews and friends. Joseph is also survived by his most dearest dog, Australian shepherd Annie who enjoyed hiking and walks just as much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to the neighbors who were there for my mom the night of his passing. We would also like to send a heartfelt thank you to Clarkdale EMS and Police specifically Officer Derek Johnston for their compassion that night.

Arrangements are being handled by Westcott Funeral home in Cottonwood, Arizona. A private service will be held with immediate family and cremation is taking place.
