Gertrude (Trudy) Lloyd Fields, 96, of Cottonwood, Arizona went home to be with her Lord on May 21, 2025. She is grieved by all who knew her.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, Trudy was a loving and devoted wife to Homer Edward Fields who preceded her in death after 63 years of marriage. Trudy was also devoted to her faith, notable through the Bible classes she conducted, and the beautiful flower arrangements and miniature bible scenes she made for church. From her poem, “The Way,” she expressed a yearning for peace and hope amid a world filled with difficulties, finding solace and direction in Christian faith.
Put on a bright smile, alas there is hope,
To vanish all fear, a way to cope.
Says in the Bible, if we will pray,
And seek His face, He’ll show us the way.
Her creative talent was also evident in the canvases she painted. She delighted in all of nature, from “broom-swept clouds” to the dogs in her life, to a dragonfly or a bird’s nest. The food she lovingly cooked, especially her peanut butter pies and deviled eggs, were family favorites.
Trudy leaves behind her daughter Sandra who was always by her side, son-in-law Robert Malloy and granddaughter Laura Michelle Plessinger of Cottonwood, son Daniel Fields and his wife Linda of Milford, Pa., grandson Brian Plessinger of Arlington, Tex., and niece Shirley Bowers and her husband Larry of Forest, Va.
The family is particularly thankful for the countless hours of love and support provided by the Northern Arizona Hospice Team and the other wonderful care providers who helped through Trudy’s illness.
