Fred C. Howe, 86, of Camp Verde, AZ passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Camp Verde. He was born to Mary and Henry Howe, Jr. on December 11, 1939, in El Paso, TX and moved to Arizona over 80 years ago. Fred graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1957. He then attended Arizona State Teachers College in Flagstaff, where he met Darlene, the love of his life for 61 years. Fred went on to serve 33 years in education, most of which was as the principal of Ray Junior High in Kearny, AZ. Toward the end of his career he earned his doctorate degree in education from NAU. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family along with woodworking and leather work. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Henry Howe Jr., sisters Joanna and Edith and his wife Darlene. He is survived by his son, Danny (Melissa) Howe of Camp Verde; daughter, Sheryl Hitchcock of Apache Junction; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10 am, at Parkside Community Church, 401 Camp Lincoln Rd., Camp Verde, AZ 86322. In lieu of flowers, make a tax-deductible donation to your local school district in honor of Fred Howe.
