Donald James Mara

Donald J. Mara, Sr., 89, of Cottonwood, AZ passed away at home on February 17, 2023. He was born January 11, 1934, in Stoughton, MA to Charles William Mara and Verna Gay Mara. Donald was a Private in the United States Air Force and served in the Korea War. He was employed as a cook at the Bridgewater, MA prison. And in Denver, Colorado he worked at Goldie's Rest, Marlo's, and Bagel Nosh. He once had a newspaper article titled “Denver Don from Goldie's Rest”. Donald attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood, AZ. He enjoyed playing golf, ballroom dancing, and spending time with family. Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mara in 2007, and his sister, Julia Gallager in2021. He is survived by his sons James F. O’Mara (Andrea) of Cottonwood, AZ, Donald Mara, Jr. (Marie) of Grand Junction, CO, and Stephen Mara of Cottonwood, AZ; Daughter Julie Kenyon (Richard) of Denver, CO; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
