Dallas Marguerite (Baier) Sanger was born on November 28, 1924, in Wayne County, Michigan. In her early years, her family lived on large apple farms before moving into town, where her father opened a popular neighborhood bar. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1942 and was known as the life of the party, often dancing to the lively sounds of Big Band music. She and her girlfriends enjoyed road trips, and it was on one of these adventures that she met Charles "Bud" Sanger.
Dallas and Bud were married on January 31, 1956, in Lakewood, Colorado. In 1960, they purchased 43 acres in the mountains outside of Golden, Colorado, where they raised chinchillas and built a life rooted in creativity and independence. Dallas was a talented jewelry artist, working skillfully with silver and natural stones. She was also an accomplished seamstress and a creative cook.
The couple cherished their travels, especially their annual trips to San Carlos, Mexico, in their camper truck. In 1980, they moved to Clarkdale, Arizona, where they built their dream home with sweeping 360-degree views.
Dallas was deeply involved in her community, volunteering with The Elks, the Library Board, local book clubs, and the Humane Society Thrift Store. After Bud's passing on April 14, 2001, she relocated to Sedona in 2004, where she continued her volunteer work with the Humane Society, Twice Nice Thrift Store, the Sedona Community Center, Democrats of the Red Rocks, and the Sedona Library.
She had a passion for gathering with friends and family, often taking loved ones out to her favorite restaurants for cocktails and a good meal-even at 101 years old.
Dallas requested no formal services. She wished instead to be remembered for the joy, laughter, and good times she shared with friends and family.
Her vibrant spirit, creativity, and love of life will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
