With heavy hearts, yet filled with the warmth of cherished memories, we celebrate the beautiful life of Carol Jean “Geannie” Brown, born on July 23, 1937, in Ottumwa, Iowa. On October 20, 2026, in Prescott, Arizona, Carol peacefully stepped into eternity, surrounded by the love that had been the very essence of her life. Though her earthly journey has come to a close, the love she gave, the beauty she created, and the memories she leaves behind will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew her.
Carol possessed a rare and beautiful gift: the ability to make a house feel like home and those within it feel deeply loved. Her home was a reflection of her heart—a welcoming sanctuary filled with warmth, thoughtful touches, and the beauty of a life well-lived. She found great joy in gardening, nurturing each flower and tending to each blossom with the same tenderness she extended to those she loved. Her gardens flourished beneath her care, much like the relationships she so lovingly cultivated throughout her life. Purple, her favorite color, seemed a fitting reflection of her vibrant spirit, grace, and enduring love for life.
Carol’s most beautiful love story began in the halls of high school, where she met Edwin Brown, the young man who would become the love of her life and her forever companion. What began as a young love blossomed into a bond unlike any other—a love that deepened with every passing year, weathered life’s seasons, and remained steadfast through the passage of time. In 1954, they promised their lives to one another, beginning a remarkable journey filled with laughter, tenderness, unwavering devotion, and a lifetime of shared dreams. Together, they built far more than a life; they created a home rooted in love and raised two cherished children, John and Constance, whose lives would forever be shaped by the extraordinary love their parents shared. Theirs was a love that did not simply endure the years, but grew more beautiful with them—a rare and precious love, woven so deeply into the fabric of their lives that it will remain forever.
Carol’s greatest treasures were never things, but the people she held dear. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Edwin Brown; her son, John Brown; her daughter, Constance Brown; and her older brother, Calvin Rush. She is reunited in eternity with her beloved parents, Andrew Buwalda and Marguerite (Lewis) Rush, and her brother, Michael Rush, who preceded her in death.
Those who knew Carol will remember her laughter, her wonderful sense of humor, and the light she brought into every room. She had a way of making ordinary moments feel extraordinary, turning gatherings into treasured memories and filling the lives of those around her with joy. She loved to travel, to discover new places, and to experience the world alongside family and friends. Wherever life took her, she carried with her a spirit of warmth, adventure, and appreciation for the simple, beautiful moments that make a life meaningful.
Funeral services will be held to celebrate Carol’s life and honor the love she so generously shared. Family and friends will gather to remember her, to share stories, to laugh through their tears, and to find comfort in the memories that will forever bind them together. Details of the services will be announced at a later date.
Carol’s life was a garden of love, carefully tended and beautifully lived. The flowers she nurtured will fade with the seasons, but the love she planted in the hearts of her family and friends will continue to blossom for generations to come. Her laughter will echo in their memories, her kindness will live on in their actions, and her spirit will remain in the beauty they find in the world around them.
May we honor Carol by embracing life with the same warmth she shared, by tending to the relationships that matter most, and by remembering that the greatest legacy we leave is the love we give.
Rest peacefully, dear Carol. Your hands may now be still, but the love you planted will never cease to grow. You will be forever cherished, forever remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who love you.
