Betty Brandt

April 2, 1923 — March 22, 2020

Betty L. (Bessie Kubes) Brandt, 96, passed peacefully March 22, 2020, just 11 days shy of her 97th birthday. Born in New Prague, MN, a Czech farming community, Betty was fluent in both Bohemian and English. At age 18 she was sent to Minneapolis where she attended and graduated from business school. In Minneapolis she became a city girl, but never lost her love of the farm and always had amazing vegetable and flower gardens.
Betty leaves behind her loving husband Donald and five children: Jeff, Darrell (Colleen), Pamela (Todd), Terry (Lori), and Kathryn (Tom); 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, all whom she loved dearly. Together Betty and Don raised their family, danced, traveled extensively and golfed their way through life for 72 years.
Always busy, she was an avid golfer and was very proud to have won many women's golf tournaments in her lady's league. Betty and Don made many friends on the golf course over the years. She donated a great deal of time running a church gift shop many Sundays after Mass. She also sang in the church choir. Betty loved music and had a beautiful singing voice, her "Ave Maria" could bring you to tears. She was strong in her faith and when she could no longer do the things she had enjoyed so much, she looked forward to God calling her home. Betty will be deeply missed and remembered as "one of a kind" for her humor, wit, generous heart and always being dressed to the nines! We're sure she is very busy teaching the angels how to polka.
A private service will be held. Donations may be made in Betty's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
