Bartram Hart Dilks III (August 22, 1943 – October 8, 2021)
On Friday, October 8th, 2021, Bartram Hart Dilks III, passed away at his home in Cornville, Az, with his loving wife, Karen, by his side. Bart was born on August 22, 1943 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to parents, Bartram Hart Dilks, Jr. and Gladys Marion Martin Dilks. His childhood was spent in Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington. He served in the U.S. Army, 504 Signal 7th in Germany 1962-65. He returned to Washington after military service until moving to Sedona in 1975.
Bart owned three Sedona businesses over the years- Red Rock Car Wash, Red Rock Equipment Rental and Oak Creek Pet Store. Bart and family enjoyed the outdoors so hobbies, vacations and lifestyles were catered to such. Horses were a big part of life and led to Civil War Reenactments (calvary), daily trail rides, weekend camping trips and a favorite pack trip from Sedona to Mormon Lake and back.
Other outdoor family adventures included cross-country skiing, sailing, bike riding (seashore and mountains), hiking, ATV riding and gardening. A quote from Albert Einstein was in the heart of Bart’s life, “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better”. Bart believed our souls were at their best while in the great outdoors.
Bart was proceeded in death by his parents and first wife Ruthanna Doll Rice (Dilks). Bart is survived by wife of thirty years, Karen Reynolds Dilks; sons Bartram Hart Dilks IV and Phillip Oscar Dilks; step son Ryan Michael Reynolds; sister Carolyn Kay Beier (Dilks); brothers William Page Dilks and Martin A, Dilks; grandchildren Marta Anne Beckett, Bartram H, Dilks V (Teddy) and Charity Joy Dilks and grandchildren Olivia Rose Beckett and Isaac Bryan Beckett.
Memorial to honor and celebrate his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers consider making a donation to Compassus Hospice and Pallative Care in Sedona, AZ.
