Shirley Plaster

March 3, 1934 — September 17, 2012

At first the angels stood behind her bed guarding her every breath, later when her breath began to fade the angels' hovered above her, gently lifting her spirit into the heavenly hands of God. Shirley Plaster, 78, of Cottonwood, Arizona passed onto a new life September 17, 2012 in Cottonwood, Arizona surrounded by her daughters, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other close friends. She was born March 3, 1934 in Palestine, Texas the daughter of Alonzo and Ella Ray. She is survived by her daughters; Patricia Gray, Joe Garcia, Kathy Austin, Anna (Penny) Willhite, her sisters; Ernestine Short, Wanda Cagle, Olean Sloan, brother Joe Ray, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Shirley took great joy in spending time with her sisters reminiscing and rejoicing in their loving friendship. Shirley was elected twice as Constable and was the first female Constable in Flagstaff, Arizona. The Arizona Justice of the Peace and Constable Association in 1988 named Shirley Constable of the Year in the State of Arizona. Shirley was also a State Certified Law Enforcement Officer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Bill Plaster in May 2012. Although the last years of Shirley's life were clouded by difficulty in caring for her ailing husband Shirley never lost her patient loving nature evidenced by the large circle of loving family members and true friends left to mourn her departure. Shirley's beautiful loving spirit, the sweet tenderness of her warm embrace and the sound of her melodic southern voice will be greatly missed. Arrangements: Cremation with graveside services only will be held Wednesday September 26th at Citizen Cemetery in Flagstaff Arizona at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Society in memory of her beloved dog Jack or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Association.
