Orville Hendrickson

Orville Hendrickson, 84, of Cottonwood died October 29. He was born June 9, 1919 in Vandalia, Illinois. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific. He retired as a master mechanic from Kaiser, Ball and Yaeger Freeway Construction Company and helped construct the world\u0027s largest freeway. He was a member of the Operating Engineers. He owned and operated several businesses of his own including paint \u0026 body shops, auto garages and woodworking-cabinet-furniture shops. He served as a deacon and on the church board in the Church of the Nazarene and American Baptist Churches. Orville loved everyone and was a magnet for children and animals, evidenced in his Christian walk in all he did. He is deeply loved by his family and friends. His first wife, Gertrude \u0027\u0027Trudy\u0027\u0027 Hendrickson preceded him in death in 1991, his second wife Norma Jean Hendrickson died in August of this year. He leaves a daughter, Judy Ann Cummings of Cottonwood; two granddaughters, Leah (and her husband Bob) Harrington and Ginger (and her husband Kevin) Klingshirn and a grandson Russell L. (and his wife Teresa) of Cottonwood; a sister, Leota Stevens; brothers Art Hendrickson and Monty Hendrickson; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Dortha Baker, and a brother Roger preceded him in death. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 3 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral services at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.
