Billy Rowland

Billy O. Rowland died March 16, 2013 in Clarkdale. He was born on December 20, 1932 in Flagstaff, AZ to O.H. and Laura Rowland. Billy attended school in Flagstaff and lived there during his childhood. He joined the Air Force during the Korean War in 1950 and was transported on the USS Missouri to Okinawa where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic. He returned on the USS Missouri to Castle Air Force Base, CA, and was discharged from there September 28, 1954, becoming an Arizona Veteran. Billy\u0027s working career was in law enforcement as a Police Officer in Flagstaff, an Arizona Highway Patrolman and Constable for the Upper Verde Valley. He volunteered his time at the Verde Valley Medical Center as a cart man. He also served with Meals on Wheels, the Clemenceau Museum and the Made in Clarkdale events. He was a talented woodworker, wrote Cowboy Poetry and played the harmonica. Billy served faithfully as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Hazel M. Rowland; one son, Dean J. Rowland (Karen) of Yuba City, CA; 5 grandsons; 4 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ellen June Vojnic and LeEtta Slaughter. A visitation will be at 10 am, funeral at 11 am on April 5 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1377 Hombre Drive, Cottonwood, AZ.
